Maldivian has today expanded its regional operations with its first flight to Colombo, Sri Lanka. The first flight was operated using the newly acquired Dash8 300 aircraft. The management of Island Aviation informs that initially they will be operating 5 flights a week but will be increasing the flights according to the demand of the customers. The route was commenced with a special introductory fare of USD240.

IAS commenced its regional operations early this year with its flights to Trivandrum, India in January.
